Center Executive Director – Center for Applied Geomatics

Role: 

  • This is a senior leadership role suitable for an individual who possesses a combination of deep subject knowledge as well as strong technical and entrepreneurial skills. 
  • Leading the Center requires a capacity to build and lead project teams successfully.
  • She/he must be comfortable operating and networking with senior academics, professionals and bureaucrats.
  • The role requires strong commercial awareness to ensure that generates a surplus and remains cash positive.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for deepening knowledge in their Center’s domain and dissipating this knowledge widely within CEPT University
  • Responsible for acquiring and executing projects for their Centers
  • Ensuring an excellent level of technical quality on research and advisory projects, comparable with the best in the country and internationally. 
  • Responsible for ensuring projects are always delivered within budget.
  • Responsible for ensuring clear and transparent financial management and accounting on all projects.
  • Responsible for ensuring proper contracts on all projects.
  • Providing monthly technical reports to VC CRDF on the activities of the Center
  • Providing monthly financial reports to VC CRDF either directly or with assistance from CRDF Project Managers and Center Finance Managers
  • Overseeing all HR matters related to Centers including recruitment, welfare and departure of project staff and RAs in accordance with CRDF procedures
  • Overseeing sub-consultants in accordance with CRDF procedures
  • Contribute to education at CEPT University in a tangible manner

Attributes :

  • Ideally, the candidate would have a Ph.D. (or be working towards one) in the area of remote sensing, GIS, data analytics and GIS, or any other similar subject.  A Master’s degree in the field from a reputed university is the minimum qualification needed.
  • The candidate must be adept in the selection, application and review of the various computer coding languages necessary for the successful execution of geomatics development projects.  She/he should be able to drive the development of new technology in the field of geomatics and remote sensing.
  • Should have at least 10 years of experience in academic and professional practice.

  • Growth of the Center in terms of impact and contribution to the field and financial throughput.
  • Enhancement and deepening of knowledge within the Centers’ domain.
  • The Center must be a self-sustaining “Research and Advisory Business” which generates and contributes funds required for its own growth as well as to CRDF and the CEPT University.

  • Impact of the Center in its domain at a national and international level.
  • Financial health of the Center
  • Organisation and management of projects
  • Training and mentoring of the Center’s team, particularly the Deputy CED.

Job Location: Ahmedabad (should be willing to travel)
