Senior Urban Expert and Team Manager — CUPP

Role Overview:

The individual will be responsible for contributing to a range of urban planning and development projects, as well as research efforts, including spatial planning, infrastructure, and urban reform initiatives. A strong interest in deepening their understanding of urban planning and policies, especially in evidence-based and participatory approaches, is crucial. The individual will need to offer insights to influence urban planning strategies and processes, oversee teams, manage projects, and lead stakeholder consultations with state government agencies.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Master’s degree in urban planning from a recognized Indian or international university
  • Assisting and initiating work in urban planning reforms and research of planning concepts of TOD, TDR, LAP, TPS, etc. Prepare reports, planning documents, presentations, and other materials to communicate planning concepts and recommendations.
  • Formulating policy, guidelines, and SOPs for Masterplans, TPS, TOD, TPS, Blue-Green Infrastructure, Land Value Capture
  • Support the client in the preparation of presentations and documents related to urban development projects, conducting detailed surveys, and implementing the projects 
  • Assisting in preparing viable and detailed action plans along with implementation strategies and project phases for the projects/interventions.
  • Facilitate recording of proceedings at various stakeholder meetings and workshops organized as part of the project.
  • Handling information requests, preparing correspondence, arranging conference calls, and scheduling meetings
  • Assist in content development and organization of capacity-building workshops
  • Preparing materials associated with publication and knowledge management functions at CUPP
  • Developing work plans, staffing plans, project schedules, managing meetings, etc.
  • Managing the work or contracts, including reporting on the progress of work
  • Contributing to social media presence through occasional content development and exhibiting the work of the Center with a wider audience.

Attributes:

  • Master’s degree in urban planning from a recognised Indian or international university
  • Research or project experience in topical areas related to urban planning, urban development, policy analysis and studies, urban development projects, urban design, development regulations, land pooling schemes, brownfield development, etc. 
  • Experience working with government agencies, and other public stakeholders 
  • Knowledge and awareness of current initiatives of the government in urban planning, design, and development
  • Showcase the ability to work well in multi-disciplinary small to medium-sized teams, balance multiple priorities, and work under tight deadlines
  • Excellent written communication skills in English
  • Ability to structure complex ideas and narratives through presentations, written documents, and the spoken word, clearly and concisely
  • Ability to understand the level of detail essential for a given task
  • Is an organised, and independent thinker
  • Proficiency in GIS, Adobe software, presentation tools, Excel, or equivalent programs for statistical analysis and programs for graphic and visual communication.
