Saatvika Pancholi, Senior Conservation Architect at the Center for Heritage and Conservation (CHC), represented the centre at the prestigious World Heritage Young Professionals Forum 2024. This forum, hosted by the Ministry of Culture through the Archaeological Survey of India, was held in Delhi from July 14 to 23, 2024, as part of the 46th session of the World Heritage Committee and the UNESCO World Heritage Education Programme. Under the theme "World Heritage in the 21st Century: Building Capacities and Exploring Opportunities for Youth," the forum aims to enhance the expertise and capacities of young professionals in protecting, preserving, and promoting our natural and cultural World Heritage.
Participants, who are key actors within their local communities, explored opportunities to operationalise the World Heritage Convention in the 21st century. They discussed global concepts of World Heritage and Sustainable Development and familiarised themselves with local Indian heritage and its management.
Saatvika was selected from a competitive pool of 3,500 applicants and is among 50 young professionals, including 20 from India and 30 from around the world, who presented the Declaration to the World Heritage Committee. CHC is proud to have Saatvika represent our commitment to heritage conservation on this global stage.
