Aarti is a dedicated Transport Planner currently working at the Center of Excellence in Urban Transport. Her professional journey began as a Project Engineer in the Transportation Engineering and Planning Section, SVNIT Surat, where she was involved in the geometric design and planning of intersections over the span of one year. This was followed by five year tenure as Researcher and Teaching Assistant during the PhD.
She holds a Diploma in Civil Engineering from Government College Surat, a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering from M. S. University Vadodara, a Master's in Town and Country Planning from SCET, Surat, and is pursuing her PhD in Urban Planning from SVNIT Surat. Her research focuses on the study of the influence of psychological factors and improving the walkability in Indian conditions.
In her current role, she was actively involved in the gendered mobility pattern for HMRTC, aiming to create more inclusive, equitable, and safe transportation solutions. She has been actively involved in the data collection process for developing Low Emission Zones (LEZs) in heritage cities, with Junagadh as a case study. Currently, she is contributing to the MobiliseHER: Gender Responsive Mobility Plan for Ahmedabad (EU project), where she has managed the household and commuter surveys and is leading the data analysis to identify gender-based differences in mobility patterns. Her work supports the development of inclusive and evidence-based mobility strategies. Her key areas of interest include data analysis and visualization, transport modelling, policy note drafting, and road and pedestrian safety planning. She is committed to advancing sustainable and equitable urban mobility through a combination of technical expertise and on-ground engagement.
