Amrita is an architect and urban designer with a strong academic background and a keen interest in urban sociology, conservation, and architectural research. Since 2018, she has been actively engaged in exploring the intersection of urban design and community participation through various projects.

She contributed as an associate researcher to the development of Mili-Juli, a handbook presented at the Understanding Risk 2020 World Forum. This initiative was undertaken by ICCROM in collaboration with the Swedish Postcode Foundation. Additionally, she served as one of the lead researchers for Project ENACT under Loughborough University, UK, in association with IIT Roorkee, IIT Guwahati, and IIT Jammu.

Amrita holds a postgraduate degree from CEPT University, with a major in Urban design and a minor in History, Theory, and Criticism. Her professional experience spans a range of disciplines, including spatial research and design, placemaking, tactical urbanism, and resilient urban development for climate risk reduction. She has also contributed to academia as an assistant professor at the Royal School of Architecture under the Assam Royal Global University, where she led multiple urban design studios and community-driven exercises. From one such studio, she has led a group of students in publishing a book named ‘Understanding Guwahati - an urban study of Uzan Bazar’. 

Beyond her professional pursuits, Amrita is an avid traveller with a deep appreciation for performing arts, culture, and human psychology.
