Janani is an associate urban planner at the Centre for Urban Planning and Policy, CRDF, with a background in Urban Planning and Public Policy. She holds a Master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada, and a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from the School of Architecture and Planning, Anna University, Chennai. 

Her academic journey has instilled a deep passion for community-driven development, land use planning, climate resilience (including heat action plans and urban flooding), and public policy. 

Beyond her professional work, Janani is dedicated to social impact and collaborates with NGOs across India. She advocates for community-led initiatives focused on education, inclusivity, and sustainable development.
