The Centre for Applied Geomatics (CAG), CRDF participated in GIFTS Summit 2025, an event of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS).

CAG led a thematic session titled “Next-Gen Geospatial Intelligence: Innovations, Applications, and Ethics,” moderated by Dr. Shivangi S. Somvanshi, Centre Head – CAG. The session brought together leading experts to discuss emerging technologies and governance frameworks shaping the geospatial domain.

Mr. Sajeevan G (Scientist-G, C-DAC) addressed challenges related to spatial accuracy and interoperability in national missions, emphasizing the importance of standards, AI/ML frameworks, and data sovereignty. Dr. Stutee Gupta (Scientist, NRSC–ISRO) highlighted advancements in satellite data and near-real-time geospatial services, particularly for rural development. Mr. Bhupesh Gupta (Founder, GeoNomads Consulting) discussed AI/ML applications for climate resilience and infrastructure while underlining the need for privacy and ethical safeguards. Mr. Harsha Vardhan Madiraju (Associate Director, OGC) emphasized the role of evolving open standards in building AI-ready geospatial infrastructures. Mr. Ankit Tewari (GalaxEye Space) shared insights on microsatellite and nanosatellite constellations enabling high-temporal-resolution applications, especially in agriculture.

Under the Governance Track, CAG team members Nikunj Pithwa and Vagmi Patel contributed to a focus group discussion, highlighting the need for secure and standardized data-sharing mechanisms across sectors.

Additionally, Ms. Vagmi Patel presented a research paper titled “Modelling Impact of Urban Traffic Air Pollution on Built Habitat Using Geospatial Architecture Modelling Application” under the thematic track on emerging trends in remote sensing and geospatial technologies for sustainability, further showcasing the Centre’s research contributions at the summit.
