IT & GIS Expert - CAG

Role Overview

The Centre for Applied Geomatics (CAG) works on geospatial technology, land administration, and digital governance through research, capacity building, and technical assistance. The IT & GIS Expert will support project and training activities by managing GIS applications, geospatial systems, and IT infrastructure. The role involves maintaining geospatial platforms, developing data standards, and providing technical support for land and cadastral technology solutions.

Roles and Responsibilities

GIS and IT Support

  • Set up, operate, and maintain GIS applications, IT systems, labs, and related infrastructure.
  • Ensure system reliability, data quality, and proper documentation of workflows.

Geospatial Data and Hardware

  • Develop and manage geospatial data standards, metadata, and interoperability guidelines.
  • Provide technical support for ETS, DGPS, and UAV/drone data repositories, where applicable.

Training and Digital Platforms

  • Provide hands-on GIS and IT support during training programmes and workshops.
  • Support development and maintenance of web portals, dashboards, and internal digital platforms.
  • Coordinate with IT and GIS vendors as required.

Qualification and Experience

  • Master’s degree in GIS, Geomatics, Geospatial Technology, Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
  • 2–3 years of relevant professional experience in GIS systems or IT infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in GIS software and spatial databases.
