CARBSE Lecture Series is organizing a lecture on “Dynamic Glazing for the Next Generation of Smart and Healthy Buildings” by Mr. Ranojoy Dutta
Title: Dynamic Glazing for the Next Generation of Smart and Healthy Buildings
Speaker Name: Mr. Ranojoy Dutta
Date and Time: Friday, 15, Feb 2019, 04:00 p.m.
Venue: NZEB Seminar Hall, CEPT University
About the lecture:
Incorporating glass in buildings presents a unique set of challenges for designers who want to improve thermal comfort and utilize more natural light while reducing energy use. A new generation of adaptive glazing technologies are now available that can help balance both energy use and indoor comfort without compromising the visual connection to outdoors. This type of glazing is often called “smart”, “intelligent” or “dynamic” and is based on chromogenic materials with electrochromic (EC) currently being the leading choice for exterior applications. Given a growing interest from the design community for incorporating dynamic glazing in high performance and net zero energy buildings, this lecture will provide an in-depth overview of the latest commercially available EC window technology. Product benefits in terms of energy efficiency and occupant comfort will be reviewed using case studies and simulated results.
Speaker’s Profile:
Ranojoy Dutta manages a team of building performance specialists spanning all aspects of building simulation including daylight analysis, thermal comfort and energy performance. He regularly collaborates with architects and engineers to develop project specific value propositions using dynamic glazing to create high performance buildings where occupants can be productive and comfortable. He is particularly interested in exploring the latest advances in building simulation tools. He holds a B.Arch. from Jadavpur University and Master of Science degrees from Cornell and Arizona State University.
