Mr. Samuel Zimmerman: Alternative Analysis in Urban Transport (5:30 to 6:30 pm)
Mr. Samuel L Zimmerman is an urban transport planner having experience of about 50 years in the field. Since past twelve years he has been working as Senior Urban Transport Specialist at The World Bank. Mr. Zimmerman was Principal Transport Planner at AECOM for eight years, and has worked on various projects such as Asset Management Study for  the Boston’s' Rail and Bus Transit System . He was also The Project Manager for the Initial Development of York Region Ontario's (Toronto), an award winning “Viva” rapid transit (BRT) system. For nine years has served as The Director of Planning for the Federal Transit Administration, where he directed all planning and environmental activities related to the USDOT’s significant transit assistance program. He has alsobeen an adjunct professor at three Washington area universities for a total of seventeen years. He has delivered many lectures at universities  all over the World .He has  written or co-authored numerous papers on a variety of urban transport and policy topics.

Dr. Ajay Kumar:  Institutions in urban Transport (6:30 to 7:30 pm)
Ajay Kumar has over 30 years of experience in public policy, strategic planning and management, finance and economic planning, with a specific focus on transport and urban sectors. For about twenty years Mr. Kumar has worked in the sector of operations and management in The World Bank Group. During his time at the World Bank, he has worked in over 40 countries across Central Asia, South and East Asia, and Africa.  He has received many awards in The World Bank and has many publications in scholarly journals to his name.  Prior to working in The World Bank he has worked in the Indian Planning Commission and have also taught in an engineering institute in Mumbai. Mr. Kumar has a Ph.D. in Urban Economics and Planning from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.

The Center of Excellence in Urban Transport, CEPT University (CEPT-CoE), established in 2009 is an initiative of the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD), Government of India and is supported by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. CEPT-CoE has been envisaged as a resource center for dealing with issues in urban transport planning and management. It has a mandate to cover three aspects of capacity building in urban transport - human resource development, knowledge management and technical assistance & advisory.
