On February 16, 2025, CEPT University hosted an event titled Modern Architecture as Heritage, featuring talks and a panel discussion by esteemed experts in the field. This event marked the official launch of the in-person component of the training course Modern Architecture Conservation in India 2025, offered by Getty and INTACH Heritage Academy in collaboration with CEPT University.
The event brought together Ms. Susan Macdonald (Head, Buildings and Sites, Getty Conservation Institute), Mr. Kartikeya Sarabhai (Director, CEE), and Prof. Miki Desai (Former Faculty, CEPT University) to share their expertise on vital topics, including a global perspective on the conservation of 20th-century heritage, the role of Ahmedabad's mill owners on modern architecture in the city, and the histories of significant 20th C buildings in the region. The panel was moderated by Kiran Joshi (ICOMOS India & ISC20C).
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to our distinguished speakers for their valuable contributions to the discussions.
