Rock Art is a unique typology of cultural assets. The aesthetically charged creations and the sites where they are created pose equally challenging questions about interpretation and preservation. CHC, along with MCR FA CEPT, IISER Mohali and the Directorate of Archaeology and Museums, has jointly organised a multi-disciplinary discussion to reflect upon research and challenges associated with Indian Rock Art.
The panel discussion will begin with introduction and welcome address by Mrudula Mane. The panelists for the event are Dr. Parth Chauhan (Paleoanthropologist and Prehistorian, Assistant Professor , Humanities & Social Science, IISER Mohali), Dr. Riza Abbas (Rock Art Expert, Assistant Director (Archaeology), Indian Numismatic, Historical and Cultural Foundation, Nashik), Dr. Ashwin Pundalik (Geologist, Assistant Professor at St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai), Dr. Aparna Watve (Botanist and Ecologist, Coordinator of IUCN (SSC) Western Ghats Plant Specialist Group), Dr. Tejas Garge (Archaeologist, Director at Directorate of Archaeology and Museums, Maharashtra) and Dr. Varad Sabnis (Superintending Archaeologist, Directorate of Archives and Archaeology, Goa).
