Winter School at Bela

A winter school was organised at CEPT Summer Winter School on Post-Earthquake Reconstruction of Heritage Buildings in Bela, Kachchh, from 4th Dec to 13th Dec 2023 under project 3D for Heritage India. The ten-day-long course was tutored by Bernadette Devilat, Aditya Singh and Saatvika Pancholi.

The winter school focused on designing retrofit measures for the vernacular historic structures in Bela, using 3D data already available. It helped participants understand how the documentation through 3D LiDAR scanning supports the development of culturally sensitive post-earthquake reconstruction. The course also included the learnings from disaster management and risk preparedness plans. The participants were actively engaged in on-site work at the Bela village.
