Center of Excellence in Urban Planning and Design

CEPT University has earned the prestigious designation of a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Urban Planning and Design by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA, Government of India (GoI). In recognition of this accomplishment, an endowment of Rs. 250 Crore has been allocated to the university, dedicated towards the advancement and training in India-centric expertise within the realm of Urban Planning and Design for the next 25 years. The University envisions collaborative efforts with MoHUA in steering the activities of the CoE.

Applauding the tremendous work put in by all members at CEPT Research and Development Foundation and the University, Dr Bimal Patel, President, said, "Urban Planning and Urban Design are central to the development of our country. City regions are key contributors to our economy. As we become more urban, we will need to greatly improve our towns and cities to reap the benefits of urbanisation for a better quality of life and economic growth."

Having been at the forefront of Urban Planning and Design for decades, CEPT University has been a trailblazer since 1972, making substantial contributions to teaching, practice, and research in these domains. The institution has played a pivotal role in training numerous government and in-service professionals. Through this initiative, we aim to sustain its impactful contributions in Urban Planning and Design, actively participating in the ongoing development and dissemination of India-specific knowledge in these critical fields.
