Ashna Patel, Program Lead for CEPT Conservation Site Schools, presented on 'Cultural Heritage and the Community: Linking Practice, pedagogy and Participation' at the webinar on 'Heritage, Tourism and Community Participation', organised by EQUATIONS (Equitable Tourism Options) and RATH (Recognises, Avail and Transform Heritage) on 27 January 2024.

The webinar explored diverse models of community engagement in practice and its transformative power in creating sustainable heritage tourism models. Ashna's presentation was part of the sub-theme on 'Empowering Communities: Sustainable Heritage Tourism through Effective Participation Models' and talked about the Site Schools approach as a mode of strengthening linkages between cultural heritage and community through site-based educational and public-engagement activities that can potentially build a foundation for initiating sustainable, locally-run models for tourism and heritage conservation.
