CHC Team meets Kulinchandra Yagnik during reconnaissance survey

Wed, December 27, 2023 Announcement

During the reconnaissance survey of the central Gujarat region for the ongoing research work 'Wooden Havelis of Gujarat' for the Endangered Wooden Architecture Programme (EWAP), our team was delighted to meet Mr Kulinchandra Yagnik at his residence in Nadiad.

Kulinchandra Yagnik (IAS) is a senior bureaucrat and educator. He was involved in the Census of India 1961 survey team, where they extensively surveyed the towns and villages across Gujarat and listed the wooden havelis with exquisite wooden carvings.

Today, Census Of India 1961, Vol 5 Part 7a (2) Wood Carvings of Gujarat is one of the greatest references for finding and mapping the surviving endangered wooden havelis in Gujarat. It is available as a reference book at the CEPT Library.
