The workshop, organised by CHC, CEPT Archives and CEPT IT Department on 26th April 2024, concluded with a discussion about formulating a Digital Data Preservation Policy for the University. The discussants reflected upon the important aspects of digital data management shared by the speakers throughout the workshop.
The workshop commenced with Mrudula Mane, Saman Quraishi and Mahroof M. presenting their experiences with digital data creation, management, and infrastructural provisioning to identify important challenges and questions for the organisation. In the next session, Dr. Virat Kothari shared insights about establishing the Gandhi Heritage Portal, and ways of disseminating knowledge through digital platforms at the Sabarmati Ashram.
It was followed by a presentation by David Fricker, senior archives, and record management professional, who introduced digital preservation strategies, and the risks, requirements and protocols in various stages of digital preservation. Dr Kelly Reed presented the significance of collaboration and co-creation of the digital repository for the Endangered Wooden Architecture Program of Oxford Brookes University and Arcadia Foundation.
Venkat Srinivasan and Ojas Kadu discussed ways of interoperability between Archives, giving the example from Archives at NCBS, and provided various instances of open-source archives management software and digital preservation platforms.
