CHC organised a talk by Chandler McCoy on "Conserving Modern Architecture".

Chandler McCoy manages the Conserving Modern Architecture Initiative at the Getty Conservation Institute in Los Angeles (USA) whose mission is to advance the practice of conserving modern heritage. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in architecture from the University of Virginia and a Master of Architecture degree from Columbia University in New York City.  He studied architectural conservation at ICCROM in Rome. Since 2012, the GCI has been addressing the conservation of twentieth century heritage with a focus on modern architecture. By creating the Conserving Modern Architecture Initiative (CMAI) the GCI sought to bring its expertise to this difficult subject in order to advance the practice of its conservation worldwide. With its field projects, publications and technical materials and training courses, the CMAI attempts to fill a knowledge gap with useful technical materials and by sharing what it has learned to help architects, conservators and building managers better understand the unique challenges of preserving works of modern heritage.
