International Conference on Comfort At The Extremes #CATE2023, Ahmedabad

The Faculty of Technology and Centre for Advanced Research in Building Science and Energy (CARBSE), CRDF at CEPT University hosted a three-day international conference, ‘Comfort At The Extremes 2023’ (CATE) at CEPT University, K.L.Campus, Ahmedabad. During December 13 and 15th 2023, CATE2023 provided a platform for a diverse group of experts from domains of the built environment, physical and social sciences, physiology, biology, and computer science to deliberate interdisciplinary solutions and strategies oriented toward climate-responsive built environments.
Approximately 170 participants from 19 countries participated and about 60 peer-reviewed research papers were presented. The conference discussed the design, technology and policy-related solutions that can be practised to prepare the built environment for future challenges. The conference witnessed the conversations on topics such as human physiological limits to withstand extreme climate events, ways and means to incorporate climate resiliency in built environments, the impact of behavioural change in achieving resource efficiency and the role of computer science in the design and operation of buildings and communities.
During the conference, seven academic and research institutes from India, Singapore, the UK and the USA also presented their educational pedagogy and research work from their students.
