Getty, INTACH Heritage Academy, and CEPT University jointly conducted the in-person component of the training course ‘Modern Architecture Conservation in India 2025’ from 17th to 21st February 2025 at CEPT University. It was a week-long immersive learning experience with lectures and insights from the most eminent experts in the field of 20th-century architecture and heritage. The course would not have been possible without the generous support of the experts and the active engagement of the participants.
Riyaz Tayyibji, Jigna Desai, Susan Macdonald, Chandler McCoy, R.J. Shah, and Annabel Lopez delivered lectures on the campus, with each expert sharing their knowledge and experiences.
In a panel discussion, Jigna Desai, Rajan Rawal, Gauri Bharat, Mehul Shah and Bhargav Desai discussed the actual process of conservation of the iconic Faculty of Architecture Building at CEPT Campus, a building which was designed by B.V. Doshi. Neelkanth Chhaya in another session gave a deep reflection on B.V. Doshi’s works.
Susan Macdonald, Chandler McCoy, Margherita Pedroni, and Parul Munjal facilitated step-by-step group exercises for participants on preparing a conservation management plan of a case study building.
