We are happy to announce an Open House at Kalidas Jethabhai House, the first Conservation Site School adopted at Dharmaj, Gujarat on Friday, 17th December 2021.
The initiative is part of ‘Dharmaj Heritage Collaborative’, a joint effort by the Center for Heritage Conservation (CHC), CEPT Research and Development Foundation (CRDF) and Avichal Heritage Foundation to safeguard the heritage of Dharmaj.
Conservation Site School is conceptually based on a premise that many heritage sites that are highly valuable for their historic importance are neglected due to lack of active use or lack of funds and resources. Under this initiative, CHC adopts a site in need of conservation interventions/efforts, runs short courses from there and in the process repairs, restores and upgrades the site that can eventually be handed over to the owner/custodian of the site.
The Open House at Kalidas Jethabhai House has been planned in four timeslots between 10:30 am to 2:30 pm (one hour each) for people to visit the site. This will be followed by a virtual session from 6:00 to 7:30 pm on Zoom. An inaugural talk on ‘Answering Questions on Caring for Family Heritage’ by Anupam Sah, Head of Art Conservation, Research and Training at CSMVS Museum Art Conservation Center, Mumbai will be shown during each slot including the virtual session.
Please note that the onsite Open House will be held following COVID protocols by limiting the entries to 15 people per slot on a first come first serve basis. Prior registration is mandatory.
