Cities need resilience more than ever before.  They demand innovation and effective planning to be future-ready. As our cities continue to face environmental challenges and an ongoing pandemic, we need more and thoughtful ideas.  Announcing The CRDF – Idea behind the Art Competition: A platform to present your innovation and solutions for the future of Indian cities. The theme for 2021 is Preparing Cities for Resilience.

The Competition is organized for students of CEPT University and recent graduates (2020 and 2019) of the university.  It expects you to look from an eye to improve built environments and make cities robust.  It is a challenge to explore your creativity and present high-quality visual content on the theme.

The theme focuses majorly on the cities and their infrastructure, level of resilience, large-scale problems, functionality, and sustainability. Students are expected to use their imagination for ways in which cities can grow and build resilience against challenges of the future.  How do these cities look in the future?  How will they tackle the problems?  These are a few relevant questions students should keep in mind when they ideate and channel it out through the entries.

The deciding factors to win the competition are originality, artistic skills, aesthetic appeal, and relevance to CRDF’s work. Linkages with CRDF’s work should be explicit and should describe/relate to one or more thematic Centers at CRDF, or even CRDF as a whole.  We believe in pushing creative and logical boundaries.  The ideation should be conducted looking at the major challenges our cities currently face.  The art can be traditional, modern, symbolic or in any style.

Students are encouraged to explore our website to understand the body of work.  There will be an artist and an expert to evaluate the submissions.  The competition will offer prize money of Rs. 75,000 and Rs. 50,000 to the winner and first runner up, respectively.
