Prof. Rajan Rawal, has been honoured with Fellow status by American Society of Heating Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). Prof. Rawal is the first Indian architect to receive such honour by 125-year-old ASHRAE. ASHRAE honours professionals who have attained distinction in the arts relating to the sciences of heating, refrigeration, air-conditioning, ventilation, or the allied arts and sciences. ASHRAE recognised Prof. Rawal's contribution in the area of building energy performance, human thermal comfort, low energy cooling systems and human thermal comfort.
The work carried out by Prof. Rawal at Centre for Advanced Research in Building Science and Energy at, CRDF, CEPT University have assisted the Bureau of Indian Standards to define the thermal comfort standards, Bureau of Energy Efficiency to develop building energy code. He represents India at Mission Innovation and International Energy Agency's, Energy in Buildings and Communities Annex 69.
