The Centre of Excellence in Urban Transport, CRDF, CEPT University on behalf of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India and The World Bank, organized a two day training program “Capacity Building Program in Bus Operations and maintenance” for all levels of staff in the transit agency in the cities like Bhopal, Jaipur, Chandigarh and Mira Bhayander. This program is a part of the on-going ESCBS project of the MoHUA, Government of India and the World Bank- GEF grants. The program was conducted in two separate modules- City Level Training and Domestic Training over duration of three months in demonstration cities- Bhopal, Jaipur, Chandigarh, and Mira Bhayander.
The last phase of the training program was organized at Mira Bhayander on the 3rd and 4th December, 2019 participation of 60 drivers, conductors and artisans. During the first day of training, artisans were trained in the best bus maintenance practices that also involved discussions about the problems faced by operators, mechanics and maintenance staff. Drivers were trained in soft skills, their roles and responsibilities, fuel efficiency improvement techniques whereas conductors were trained in soft skills, their roles and responsibilities as well as fare collection through EIMS. The second day of training was focused on practical sessions for drivers. It was one to one session where each driver got a chance to drive bus and learn about the techniques of improving fuel efficiency and safe driving.
