CEPT University Press published two case studies that are part of the GIZ Sustainable Urban Development - Smart Cities (SUD-SC) initiative. CRDF is a knowledge and research partner. The first case study Enabling Markets to Augment Supply of Affordable Housing Through Inclusionary Zoning explores the effectiveness of Inclusionary Zoning and Regulations (IZR). The study goes in-depth into understanding the theoretical context and global practices for Inclusionary Housing. Improving Access to Shelter and Basic Services for Urban Poor Through Participatory Platforms case study analyses the role of Ward committees and working groups in Kerala, and the role of community-based organizations of Kudumbashree, the poverty eradication programme, within them. The study also explores the participatory platforms in the JAGA Mission in Odisha. The key learnings of these practices from Kerala and Odisha can guide other states in adopting a participatory approach.
