The Centre of Excellence in Urban Transport, CRDF, CEPT University on behalf of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India and The World Bank, organized Seventh “Leaders in Urban Transport Planning and Management Program” for senior and mid-level in-service transport professionals. The program is designed to equip senior and mid-level urban transport professionals with integrated strategic planning and management processes.
The program was structured for a period of 5 months (from July to November 2019) which included workshops, mentoring sessions and an international tour. The participants were required to work on a specific transport project that is of relevance to their city and/or their current area of work under the guidance of specific mentors. The Final review session of the 7th Leaders Program in Urban Transport Planning and Management held at 12th Urban Mobility Conference and Expo, Lucknow on 16th November 2019. 37 participants from 19 cities were grouped in 23 groups, presented their cases related to first and last mile connectivity, public transport, traffic management and parking policy.
The last phase of Leaders Program was a study tour to Transport for London (TFL), London from 25th -28th Nov 2019, accompanied by Dr. Shalini Sinha and Dr. Nitika Bhakuni from COE-UT, CRDF, CEPT University. During the visit, the discussions held on multi- modal public transport and operations, customer information, TFL Bus operating model, electric buses, big data and technology, transport- led development and regeneration, healthy streets, and introduction to future TFL. This was also followed by site visits to bus depots/ garage, Docklands, Olympic park and transport interchange in London.
