CEPT Research and Development Foundation (CRDF) and C40 have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to accelerate urban energy services data inventory, urban level energy models and strengthen GHG emission protocol standards developed by C40.  The cooperation will enhance research and advisory activities in the area of city-scale energy performance, GHG emission reduction, reporting, capacity building for the workforce and industry that can design, build, implement and maintain resource efficiency in cities. The cooperation aims to develop energy models that are affordable and scalable for Indian cities.

The models will include building energy performance, energy efficiency in municipal services, development of climate resilience plans focusing on thermal comfort during intense heat waves. CRDF is an independent organization promoted by CEPT University to promote and manage research and advisory activities.  One of the research and development centres, Centre for Advanced Research in Building Science and Energy (CARBSE) that aims to foster the design, construction and operation of energy-efficient built habitats in consonance with development and climate.  C40 is a network of the world’s megacities committed to addressing climate change. C40 supports cities to collaborate effectively, share knowledge and drive meaningful, measurable, and sustainable action on climate change.
