CUPP and CoE-UT train officials for Bengaluru Metro through a capacity building program

A team of experts from CRDF is engaged by the Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT), Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), and Asian Development Bank (ADB) in developing and implementing a capacity building program for designing Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) and Multimodal Integration (MMI) for Bengaluru Metro system.  The first module was delivered to 33 stakeholders from different departments, agencies, and authorities in Karnataka over four weeks from September to October 2021. The first two weeks focused on TOD that included developing a clear understanding of TOD's fundamentals, principles and TOD in the context of Bengaluru through examples of other countries.  These sessions were organised and anchored by Prof. Jignesh Mehta and Dr. Rutul Joshi and were facilitated by Mr. Hersh Verdhan and CUPP team.  The last two weeks of the module included network, physical, information, and institutional integration.  The participants worked on the 4MI tool prepared by CoE-UT to calculate the MMI score of Bengaluru.  These sessions were organised and anchored by Prof. Shivanand Swamy and Dr. Shalini Sinha, facilitated by Mr. Khelan Modi, Dr. Sangeetha Ann, Ms. Maitry Shah, and CoE-UT team.
