The Center for Water and Sanitation (CWAS) is supporting the towns of Wai and Sinnar in Maharashtra in their efforts to provide inclusive and sustainable sanitation services to their citizens. Both towns are now open defecation free and have made credible progress in instituting efficient faecal sludge and septage management systems. CWAS organized a workshop in Pune from 4th to 6th September to share insights and experiences from these two towns. The workshop was attended by sanitation sector partners and professionals from across India and Nepal. The participants also visited Wai where they interacted with city officials and saw the functioning of scheduled desludging services and the faecal sludge treatment plant.
