CEPT Research and Development Foundation (CRDF) along with The Global Building Performance Network (GBPN) and Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE) have signed a tripartite partnership agreement aimed at decarbonizing the residential building sector in India. The MoU from CRDF is represented by Prof. Rajan Rawal, Executive Director, Center for Advanced Research in Building Science and Energy (CARBSE). India has one of the lowest access to cooling across the world, however rising aspirations, urbanization and increasing population growth in cities will drive the increase in cooling demand in the coming years. This partnership will advance CARBSE's action research on thermal comfort in residential buildings and will support the increased adoption of Energy Conservation Building Code - Residential (ECBC-R) in India through a replicable implementation framework and activities. It will also support the GoI in its efforts to adopt energy efficient building policies in alignment with India’s 2030 framework of addressing clean energy and climate action goals. Read more
