Impact of scheduled desludging on water quality

The city of Wai completed its first three-year cycle of scheduled desludging.  During these three years, the CWAS team monitored the quality of groundwater, river water, effluent from drains and supernatants from septic tanks.  The results suggest a positive impact of regular desludging on the performance of septic tanks and consequently improved the quality of groundwater and river water.  The findings of this study can be found in a paper published by the CWAS team.
