Inauguration of GACI Gujarat Chapter at CEPT University, Ahmedabad

GIS Academia Council of India (GACI) is an initiative by ESRI India to bring together thought leaders from the academia to address the social, economic, professional and environmental issues that impact our world by applying Geography, GIS. The intent of GACI is to build a community of like-minded academicians who are passionate about GIS. The Council is a platform for GIS knowledge sharing aimed at encouraging GIS adoption and promoting teaching excellence in spatial data management and analysis in higher education across India. The GACI aims to set up regional chapters across India towards fulfilling regional aspirations and meeting emerging challenges in Geospatial technology.

The CEPT University has been actively imparting geospatial education in planning and technology from last three decades. Currently, it offers two years fulltime M.Tech Geomatics program with dedicated faculty members. The University also takes a lead for carrying out consultancy/research sponsored projects in Geospatial Technology through its Center for Advanced Geomatics and the faculty members of M Tech Geomatics Programme. GACI India, invited CEPT University to start its first regional chapter.

The GACI Gujarat Chapter @ CEPT University was formally inaugurated on 10th December, 2019 in a National Symposium on Industry-Academia Collaboration on Geospatial Technology, organized by CEPT University, Ahmedabad. This Regional Chapter of GACI in Gujarat will be led by CEPT University, Ahmedabad.
