Prof. Rajan Rawal delivered the keynote address at the 11th International Symposium on Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (ISHVAC) 2019 at Harbin, China. The symposium was hosted by Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), a pioneer in HVAC education in China. Prof. Rawal spoke about the exponentially increasing demand for built spaces and an increase in purchasing power to gain thermal comfort using unsustainable mechanical means, all this in the context of increasing frequency of climate-related extreme events. He highlighted the ‘Global Cooling Prize’ and other efforts by Govt. of India, researchers, academia, and civil society towards meeting the ‘Thermal Comfort for All’ challenge.
