Lecture series on Sanitation Financing for IHE Delft

Thu, April 15, 2021 Lectures

Dr. Meera Mehta and Dr. Dinesh Mehta, Executive Directors, the Center for Water and Sanitation (CWAS) hosted a week-long lecture series on Sanitation Financing.  It was organized for the students of Masters of Science in Sanitation at IHE Delft Institute for Water Education.  It's part of their Master of Science programme which focuses on non-sewered sanitation.  The series highlighted sanitation financing issues, particularly in low and middle-income countries, with examples from African and Asian countries.  It had sessions on financing in the global WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) context and goals, options at the national and local level, and their impact on the municipal budget.  The series gave insights into results-based financing and blended finance with case studies.  Students were enabled to use WASH SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) costing tools and CWAS’s SaniPlan tool for performance improvement planning.
