Moving towards water secure cities in Kutch
A 2019 NITI Aayog report highlighted that India is suffering from the worst water crisis in its history, and nearly half the population of the country is water-deprived. The report mentioned that 21 major cities will face a severe water crisis. Given this situation, securing water in cities is an urgent priority. CWAS has received a grant from Empowerment Foundation through Dasra for supporting two cities - Anjar and Gandhidham - in the Kutch region, to move towards water security. Key activities will include citywide assessments, development of water security plans in partnership with the city governments and implementation of demonstration projects.
