Prof. H.M. Shivanand Swamy, Emeritus Director, Centre of Excellence in Urban Transport, CRDF, joined as a speaker in the session “Developing a Vibrant and Connected Hyderabad” at WRI India’s flagship annual event, Connect Karo 2021.

The session focused on aspects that are critical in developing the Hyderabad Region as a well-balanced economic cluster and the synergies that are needed to unlock environmental and social benefits in the city. The session brought together decision-makers and experts to discuss a way forward for an outcome-driven, sustainable, and resilient economic development strategy for Hyderabad.

As part of the discussion, he pointed out that economic activities in Hyderabad are clustered, and improving mobility and accessibility will be the key. Also, he added the need to integrate land use plan, transport plan, and economic development strategies to create synergies.
