The Gujarat Real Estate Regulatory Authority (Guj-RERA), established under RERA Act 2016, is responsible for facilitating, regulating, and promoting a healthy, transparent, efficient and competitive real estate sector. To meet these objectives and carry out its responsibilities, Guj-RERA has resolved to review the current statutory framework of planning within the state and make recommendations for improvement. A team of urban planning experts from CRDF comprising of practice professionals, domain experts and faculty members is supporting Guj-RERA in these efforts. The team is conducting a rigorous technical review of the  planning regime, statutory provisions and mechanisms. It has made preliminary recommendations based on multiple meetings and engagements with eminent professionals, Government departments and members of academia. This engagement with RERA will also result in the development of high quality manuals for preparing and implementing Development Plans, Town Planning Schemes and Local Area Plans.
