Two new centers, the Center for Applied Geomatics (CAG) and the Center for Heritage Conservation (CHC) have been established at CRDF to support city governments in managing and analyzing spatial data and conserving urban heritage. The CAG will act as a resource and knowledge hub for urban data, and will promote, facilitate and support the application of geospatial technologies in interdisciplinary research, education, community and government services. Dr. Anjana Vyas will serve as the Executive Director of the Center for Applied Geomatics. The CHC headed by Dr. Jigna Desai will engage with municipal corporations, institutions at central and state level, private practitioners and developers to inform practice and policy of heritage conservation in the country. In January, the CHC signed it's first advisory contract with the Agra Municipal Corporation to support the city in heritage documentation and conservation. It also signed a MoU with the Directorate of Archaeology and Museums, Gujarat, for educational & scientific Cooperation in the area of conservation.
We are also happy to share that CRDF has received clearance under Foreign Contribution Act (FCRA) that will enable it to accept foreign funding for research and advisory work.
