Last mile connectivity is an essential step to accomplish Sustainable Development Goal 6.1 i.e., achieving universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water for all, and to culminate the Indian mottos of “Har Ghar Jal” and “Har Nal me Jal". This study, done for the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) - Government of India, aims to understand the approach and practices by urban local governments in India for providing individual water connections. It focuses on policies and processes followed by cities to provide water connections to slums and vulnerable communities.
