CRDF conducted a special program from April 2018 to May 2018 to train city leaders from Uttar Pradesh (UP) on aspects of Urban Governance that have endowed Ahmedabad and Surat with their present pre-eminent status. The program focused on introducing key thematic areas of Municipal Governance Framework, presentations on transformative projects, and covering Ahmedabad BRTS and urban mobility. Day 2 covered Urban Planning and Urban Finance with municipal accounting reforms. Participants also visited Gujarat International Finance Tec-City along with few exposure visits to Sabarmati River Front, Surat Waste Water, and Municipal Waste Treatment Facility. The program also had presentations on GIS-based property tax reform, Surat Smart City, and Flood and Climate Resilience Efforts.
The program was joined by more than 80 senior city leaders consisting of including Mayors, Municipal Commissioners, Leaders of Opposition, and other senior officers from 16 municipal corporations in Uttar Pradesh participated in this program. The training program was conducted in three separate batches having a four-day residential training program in Ahmedabad and Surat. The senior city leaders found the program extremely well-curated and appreciated the CEPT team and officials from AMC and SMS for enabling them about various aspects of urban governance.
