The project is being undertaken by CEPT Research and Development Foundation (CRDF), with Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation (SSEF) as the knowledge partner. looks forward to policy interventions for heritage cities to enable green mobility in city core areas. The two-year project, initiated from January 2024 till December 2025, focuses on policy interventions to promote green mobility in the core areas of heritage cities. It specifically addresses heritage and mobility challenges in Junagadh and Lucknow, aiming to mitigate pollution, traffic congestion, and heritage degradation by accomplishing goals such as:

  • Environmental Sustainability through Green Mobility by adoption of electric vehicles and promotion of public transport to reduce carbon footprints and set an example for sustainable transport solutions.
  • Conservation of Heritage Places by encouraging electric mobility and establishment of low-emission zones mitigates pollution effects on historic landmarks and promotes sustainable tourism.
  • Improved Mobility Planning and Traffic Management by developing a green mobility plan to reduce reliance on private vehicles, enhance accessibility, and create more pleasant and walkable streetscapes.
  • Public Health Improvement through the transition to low-emission zones and reduction in vehicular emissions will enhance the overall quality of life for residents, making heritage cities more liveable and visitor-friendly.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Outreach to help create awareness of the benefits of green mobility, address concerns, and incorporate local perspectives into the implementation pathways.
