Reports CHC
Center for Heritage Conservation (CHC) at CEPT Research and Development Foundation (CRDF) and CEPT Professional Programs (CPP) conducted the 5-day certificate program on ‘Digital Documentation of Built Heritage (Batch 2)’ from 11th to 15th July 2023. This booklet, compiled in 2023 by CHC, CRDF is a session-wise overview of the activities in the program.
This certificate program was designed for participants to develop the skills required for digital documentation of historic buildings and structures through hands-on engagement. The program was held at CEPT University campus and the site for digital documentation was the ‘Ahmedabad Textile Mill Owners’ Association (ATMA)’ building in Ahmedabad. The building designed by Le Corbusier is an architectural masterpiece and an important example of 20th century heritage. The content of the program was designed for professionals, teachers and researchers of architectural conservation, heritage management, architecture, design, civil and structural engineering, or any other field allied to built-environment studies and heritage studies.
Participants gained an exposure to documentation principles, digital tools and techniques through fieldwork. Subject experts gave an introduction to the use of GIS mapping, architectural photography, photogrammetry, and 3D LiDAR scanning for documentation of built heritage.
The program tutors were: Mrudula Mane, Maniyarsan R. Shaily Gandhi and Zeus Pithawalla. The tutors were supported by teaching associate G R SreeRam. The program was developed and curated by CHC, CRDF in consultation with CPP. The program content curators were: Mrudula Mane, Dr. Jigna Desai and Jayashree Bardhan. The program was supported by ATMA House.
